A backup fails with the error "VSS snapshot creation failed (0x8004231f; insufficient storage)".

To prevent this, you have one of two options.

1. Select a different volume to save the snapshot to by following the steps in Article 1535.

2. Increase the shadow storage by following the steps in Article 1537.
