Introduction

A mechanism exists that will prevent certain activities on a StorageServer from filling up disk space once a threshold has been reached.

The limit is determined by the StorageVolumeMinFreeSpaceGB setting.

Viewing the setting

The setting StorageVolumeMinFreeSpaceGB can be viewed using the Storage Platform API:

https://<accountserver>/api/system/settings

(A default value of 1GB is used)

Changing the setting

To set a different value (to 5GB for example), also use the API URL:

https://<accountserver>/api/system/settings?StorageVolumeMinFreeSpaceGB=5

Storage Platform tasks affected

Tasks that will be aborted/prevented from running include those that create and update data:

  • All backup, including snapshot backup
  • Mirror receive
  • Move receive
  • Roll-up
  • HSM
  • Account conversion
  • BriefCase save new files
  • ManageSmallfiles
  • SpeedTest

Tasks that are still allowed even when the threshold has been reached are those that only read or remove data:

  • Purge Partial Backup
  • Backup Finalise
  • MirrorSyncIndex
  • MirrorSyncData
  • MoveSend
  • Delete
  • All Restores except RestoreLocal and SnapshotExport to the same volume as the data volume
  • Briefcase Read and delete
  • Search
  • SpeedTest
  • Send FootPrintCache
  • Gen3 HSM except to the same volume as the data volume
  • Integrity Check
  • AttachAccount
  • CleanupSIS
